What is amazing is I feel in love with this by the cover, and that usually doesn't happen to me. I saw exactly who I felt was zane and eli and the magic was just there. This couple is just great to me. From best friends to lovers they overcome their insecurities to discover something more precious.

I really am fascinated by the way the author stepped out of bounds and gave us something different compared to stay-in-and-sex- all day scenario. it wasn't jaw slackening but it was flame igniting.

Zane and Eli are what I call REAL MEN. Because they are oldER and not the usually epitomized example of a gay couple being young and vigorous, they do show that they are different variants of gay men and you can be any age to fall in love.

For that, I loved this book!

This book was a steady three stars for me, but the end of this story and how well all of it comes together makes it a great four stars. Wrapping it together like in this story is done, makes it beautiful and shows how the right love can make your life a love life to live.

Everywhere Eli turned, all roads led to Zane. It scared the fuck out of him, but despite all his protests, it didn’t scare him as much as he thought and that scared him most of all.

I hate gay for you. Especially written by women.

The prose is lovely.

Loves & Likes:

Oh lets see… double gay for you, friends to lovers, and doctors? Yup.

Peeves:

I would have loved if we had gotten Zane’s POV. Zane was the one who wanted to kiss Eli. And admits later that he had been thinking about it for a while. Eli just kind of went along for the ride at first, and still wasn’t all that keen on being out and open. I get easily frustrated with the inner monologue on GFY, and Eli broached that stage for me.

Favorite Quote:
Everywhere Eli turned, all roads led to Zane. A sense of inevitability had already seeped beneath Eli's skin, and to be perfectly honest? It scared the fuck out of him, but despite all his protests, it didn't scare him as much as he thought it should have, and that scared him most of all.

Time of death 60%

Damn! This has been on my tbr for years.

It's me not the book.

It all felt weird and sudden, no connection at all. I am told they are best friends and have a great chemistry but I didn't feel it. I felt like I was reading about two teenagers discovering their sexuality instead of two 40-something year old men.

It was sex scene, hospital mumble jumbles, colleagues telling them they look like a couple, you are not like a girl this, like a girl that. Ugh!!!

I really enjoyed this book! It was smart and witty, deeper than I anticipated, emotional and often humorous. The main characters, as well as the secondaries, were well written and nuanced. The GFY/OFY was well handled and believable. Definitely recommended!

This is a true gay for you romance tale about two doctors in their early forties. When I say ‘true’ I mean, these men were both straight with never having been attracted to another man before each other. It’s even more rare to see outside of the shapeshifter genre. In some cases, from what I’ve read, gay-for-you when it’s not shapeshifter, one man was gay and the other bisexual/attracted to men with limited or no experience.

So here we have two straight men, Zane and Eli, who are so close that everyone, friends and coworkers, assume they’re romantically involved. At the chagrin of Eli.

I think the book starts in at such a weird place. Kind of the middle-beginning. Zane and Eli have this special, super-close, touchy-feely friendship, but we don’t get to see it. We start off with them instantly becoming lovers. It would’ve added a lot of more had he gotten the ‘before’ picture. That was big piece that I think would’ve established where they were and where the story starts would’ve shown the transition from friends to more.

I related to Eli well. I’m also a very private person and I hate pushy, meddling people, which why I didn’t much care for Diana and Holly. I know they meant well, but characters like that raise my anxiety and piss me off for being all up in Eli’s business. Also, I think it took away from Zane and Eli discovering their feelings for each other on their own.

I wanted Zane’s POV. He’d been in love with Eli for over a year, so coming to terms with that had to weird for him. I thought that Zane expecting Eli to instantly be “out” once they decided to be together kind of pissed me off. Regardless of everyone thinking their romantically together, they weren’t actually and it’s just not cool to force someone to be out of the closet. Zane had a whole year of knowing he loved Eli “that way”; Eli only had what? A few months at the most. I don’t know, it just rubbed me the wrong way. But I’m glad Eli called Zane on his bullcrap.

I reread this because I remembered like it so much and I couldn’t figure out anything new to read. It wasn’t that great the second time around, but I still enjoyed it.

3.5 Stars.
