Overall I completely enjoyed this book though I do share the same complaint as many longtime fans of the series. Since I prefer to keep this spoiler free I won't elaborate but I will say while I don't agree with "the statement"it's not enough for me to pull out my pitchfork and stop reading these and the Mercy books and I hope the majority of us feel the same.

It’s been a while. Equally as wonderful as the whole series. The action really ramps up and resolves & doesn’t quite resolve itself as you close in on the end of the book. Briggs has some crazy stuff planned for our werewolves.

For some reason I like these spinoff books better than the main Mercy Thompson storyline now. Super fun read and while I guessed the villain (weren't a ton of other options and the character had no other real purpose), the ending wasn't as rushed as Briggs' sometimes are when the word count is drawing to a close. Fun urban fantasy.

A nice action packed installment to the series. I just wish it had been longer.

Patrica Briggs you will pay for your crimes for writing that conversation about Bran and Mercy. Like, EW. WHY? YUCK.

This was really good but really sad, even the stories about Mercy's days with the pack were a bit of a heartbreak and I expect much better from Bran on all counts. The position he put Charles in was unconscionable. What he did to Mercy's mother was unconscionable. Charles, Anna and the rest of the pack and even the Wildlings are a treat.

Although the story takes a little while to get going, once it does it is suspenseful right up until the last page!

Bran, the Marrok of Aspen Creek, is away from the Pack (
Spoilerrescuing Mercy in [b:Silence Fallen|30687916|Silence Fallen (Mercy Thompson, #10)|Patricia Briggs|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1468500884l/30687916._SY75_.jpg|44701525]
) and Charles has been given the reins in his place. Except, when the crisis is over, Bran inexplicably and uncharacteristically decides to take a vacation, for the first time in memory.

Charles and Anna suspect something is fishy, and they are both tired of management clashes with Bran's mate Leah. Then a Wilding - one of the broken few who live under Bran's care but are semi-isolated from the Pack due to their volatility - calls the Marrok for help and gets Charles instead.

Strange werewolves have abducted his very old, very tough mate, for unknown reasons. A frantic search to find her attackers and notify the other Wildings (in person, since most do not have phones and are deliberately hard to find) while uncovering the identities and motivations of the attackers ensues.

There is a traitor in the Pack, and it is someone I always thought was too good to be wholesome, so the revelation is both satisfying but also heartbreaking in the way it affects certain members of the Pack,
Spoilerespecially Asil, who is a favourite of mine.

Although the root of the conspiracy is exposed, the next book will have to deal with its considerable ramifications and there will inevitably be a reckoning.

A major quibble:
SpoilerMuch has been made in other reviews of the casual mention of Bran's not-quite-Fatherly-interest in a teenage Mercy - revealed by Charles to Anna after the issue of reinstating the legendary Pack Music Nights arises - but I can't say I'm surprised, though I am disappointed. I always knew his emotions ran high when it came to Mercy, but I thought it was more because he saw something of himself in her, or saw her as the daughter he never had. But then Bran is extremely old and immensely practical - Mercy is unusual enough to pique anyone's interest, and it is easy to see why she so captured his attention. But it is more than a little weird to think that his son Samuel had a romantic interest in Mercy at the same time.

Charles and Anna are a delight as always, and it is good to see shy Anna move on from her past traumas and gain in self-confidence. Looking forward to the next book!

Patricia Briggs never disappoints. She is the brightest voice in the Urban Fantasy genre and once again, set her readers out on a whirlwind of an adventure. Charles and Anna continue to be a dynamic, relatable couple that captures the heart of the reader, through their humanity, compassion, and faults that make them truly unique yet realistic.

I loved Burn Bright because I love Anna and Charles. The chemistry between these two is electric and the way they balance one another out makes you want that in your own relationship. Briggs kept me on the edge of my seat and when the book took a turn, I realized that I didn't even see the betrayal coming.

Burn Bright is Urban Fantasy with the perfect blend of Paranormal Romance.
