Brief Summary: Alex is the son of the first female President of the United States. Henry is the grandson of the Queen of England. Previously during political functions, they have repelled like magnets. Alex thinks it's because Henry is pretentious, but the reality is far more surprising than Alex could ever dream. After an international incident with a wedding cake, Henry and Alex are forced to spend time together and it's not only diplomatic relations that begin to strengthen.
Thoughts: I think that I waited too long to read this book. My expectations were exceedingly high due to all the rave reviews and the hype for the book due to the movie release. This is a solid romance novel. I enjoyed the way things unfolded within the love story and I did find it an entertaining read.
I enjoyed how Alex and Henry got to know each other romantically and deeply throughout the book. However, I did not buy into the enemies-to-lovers aspect of the romance. It felt a bit like the story's enemies aspect was short-lived. However, I did enjoy how Henry and Alex navigated their private lives as high-profile romantic partners.
I felt there were quite a few instances where the subplots distracted a bit from the romance. There were some instances when it felt a bit like a civics lesson, which within the context of the book did make sense, but I just wanted more focus on the romance. All the side characters throughout the book were entertaining and I would love a book about Alex's sister, June.
If you enjoy romance novels this book is one you should read. It has spice, fun, and heartfelt emotional connections between Henry and Alex giving the feelings you want from a romance novel.

Dear Thisbe,
I wish there weren't a wall.
Love, Pyramus
The romance was tender and the politics was surprisingly grounded despite its optimistic premise. A shout out to Steph for finally making me read this 🩷

The story is quite detailed and moves very slow. I didn't like that after the boys discover their love, so much attention is put on how their love develops. Nothing else, the side storues built in the beginning, mattered anymore. One can argue that when love struck that is what happens, I stil would have preferred more story and less sexting.

I was reluctant to read this because I have found the romance genre to be too often too cringey or too saccharine. This one was thankfully neither. This book is better than any Disney princess book. This is my perfect fairytale, and it pleases me greatly that Texas, where I live and vote, was a key setting. And it pleases me further that this fairytale is for every LGBTQ+ heart out there. And it pleases me most that so many hetero fans love this story just as it is, because they recognize that love is love.
My only gripe is about the upcoming movie - how dare they cut out June from the script!! Her relationship with Alex is so important…deeply annoyed.
