It took me about 5 months to finish this, but it’s such an important book and not at all overrated. My favourite part was de Beauvoir going through the history and describing the part we don’t usually hear or learn about - the position and experiences of women, with a lot of it still having implications today. It’s a reminder that feminism isn’t just a trend but based on centuries of painful history, discrimination and socialisation that we can to a vast extent still see happening or at least having implications today.

holy fuck bro, I'm not even exaggerating when I say that this book changed me. It took roughly 3 months to read this book from cover to cover, and finishing the book feels like a divorce. How privileged I am to live in a time to have access to reading this book.

Sorprendentemente attuale e moderno per essere stato scritto quasi un secolo fa.
Molto interessanti alcune parti (la "formazione" della donna, le conclusioni finali, ma anche le "situazioni" e "giustificazioni", oltre alla parte prettamente "storica", relativa al ruolo della donna nella storia umana), altre mi hanno preso meno.
Più che altro a volte ho avvertito pesantezza nelle ripetizioni dei concetti e nella filosofia, le classiche parti troppo dilungate e "noiose" che alla fine mi facevano cadere il Kindle in testa.
Da leggere, comunque, assolutamente.
Fa riflettere sul percorso fatto finora, su dove siamo arrivati e su quanto comunque si debba ancora lavorare.

Whilst I can see that now this book was groundbreaking upon it’s release in the 40s, some of the thinking is, inevitably, outdated - and almost damaging to today’s ideals. An interesting read nevertheless and some valid points.
