A homecoming tale for a character who was never once welcomed and had to define home before she could even believe to deserve one. Feminism and mythology.

Miller aptly, but also beautifully writes the stories of characters who lived in the shadows of heroes. She is a master at building character's motivations around tales told by many.
Elle insuffle la vie à ces personnages par sa compréhension des motifs humains.

In my Greek mythology retelling era. Pidin kovasti valitusta näkökulmasta, Kirken tarinasta. Kaipuuta, kohtaloja, rakkautta, menetystä.

I love Millers writing. Probably still liked A Song of Achilles just slightly more than Circe, but this was still really good!

Circe starts off kind of slow, making it challenging to dive in at first. But I’m so glad I stuck with it because it ended up being such a great read! With only a basic understanding of Greek mythology, I appreciated how Miller reimagines Circe’s story, infusing it with a powerful feminist perspective. The themes of empowerment and identity resonate deeply throughout the narrative. Miller's writing is captivating, filled with rich detail that brings the world to life. Overall, it's a beautifully crafted tale that transforms a familiar myth into something profoundly relevant and engaging.

It was cool to see so many different myths from Circe's perspective. Her character development was very interesting. At certain points, it almost felt like each chapter was a short story told by Circe. The ending was very poetic and I think it wrapped everything up nicely.

It wasn't horrible, but it was slow and I failed to see why everyone raves about this. Circe was, I guess, relatable to some degree, but she wasn't interesting and she really took forever to show any agency.
