It was just okay… I felt like Samara was getting mad at Aron for no real reason but then acted like she wasn’t mad???? The writing was a little choppy and did not flow very well in my opinion.

It was pretty cute but not so much memorable for me.

This scene though:

She reached up to cup his jaw, her thumb brushing along his cheek. “I’ll take that hollow look from you and bring you brightness again.”

He covered her hand. “I’ll take that sad look from you and bring you happiness again.”

Thrilled to read such an inclusive romance novel that discussed real issues facing the gaming industry. Sam is a wonderfully strong person who knows what she needs and wants. She's fiercely independent and has strong motivations to see an industry she loves be more inclusive. Aron wants to fight the good fight and has his heart in the right place but needs help seeing beyond his own perspectives.

Once I figured out Seressia was writing Aron as on the spectrum the few odd duck things made sense, but we're still jarring (the immediate I like her chapter to be specific). I'm excited to read her other books and hopefully meet her at Romance Con.

I wish I enjoyed this more but I didn't fully follow along with the couple getting together. I also feel that there was a slow burn that was just too long and then the mutual attraction felt way too fast.

What a delightful read! I enjoyed the pacing, the writing, the characters, and the plot. I love how the author tackled the systemic racism and toxicity of the gaming community. I love seeing how open these discussions were happening between the characters. I love how both the main characters had communication with each other. The plot can be a bit predictable and this book includes every romance trope ever but I didn't mind that because I thought the execution was done pretty well. Besides, I went into this book knowing that it was going to be cheesy in certain parts and I was totally okay with it because I was here for the diversity talk and how we should make gaming spaces more inclusive and safe for marginalized communities. This was such a sweet book and I cannot wait to check out Glass's other works.
