"Hey!"
"Yes, Duff?"
"You're fired!"
"All right."
"Really fired, I mean."
"All right, all right," said Joss impatiently. "I haven't time to talk shop now."

This was my first Wodehouse book and it won’t be my last. I listened to the audio book read by Simon Vance and it was lovely to hear.

The book was a slow start for me, I almost gave up within the first 30 minutes, but I’m so glad I didn’t. Once I had a grasp of the names of what felt like a lot of characters at once, things picked up.

This gets 5 stars from me because I had multiple laugh out loud moments, the dialogue is quite witty. I found myself chuckling over just how British some things were. Overall it is just a good, clean, funny story that I’d recommend to anyone needing a laugh.

Hilarious and endearing. I don’t know how Wodehouse can make you fall in absolute love with every single character he writes. Plus the plots are always so funny and surprising. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite go to authors that I will pick up without hesitation knowing a cozy good time is in order.

Oh my this was such a fun, lovely read. I found myself smiling or chuckling several times throughout. Joss Weatherby has to be one of my favorite characters ever. At first, you're sure you might hate him because he's rather full of himself. But he soon shows his heart of gold and demonstrates why he's deserving of the woman he pines after. Sally, the poor relation and fiancee of the rather bland Lord Holbeton, is another well-written character. She's kind, smart, and brave. I have only read one other Wodehouse book so I'm not as well versed on the Blandings books as most. Perhaps that helped me to enjoy the book even more because I had nothing to compare it to. The characters are well-developed and it's fun to see them change throughout the book. I'm going to start on the Jeeves books next so I look forward to more wit and humor in the future.

Somewhat inferior Wodehouse. The usual elements are in play with nothing new plot- or character-wise and the whole effort comes across as skimpy. My guess is that it’s due at least in part to timing; in 1940 Wodehouse had a lot going on. The prose is as ever a joy.
