What an interesting twist on the enemies to lovers trope. The toxicity in their relationship is what really makes the dynamic between Sasha and Johann interesting. The push and pull, the love and hate, is so realistically portrayed. Their relationship is so toxic and messed up, and seeing it from the perspective of Sasha really makes you question your morals feel the roller coaster of emotions she goes through, and the justifications she makes for it. In another story, it would feel like romanticization of toxic behavior, but the characters are so well written, you can’t help but understand their emotions. The most powerful thing is that they do actually love each other underneath everything. Be warned, however, this is a very emotionally taxing series. I simultaneously hated the relationship and shipped it.
The ending was definitely rushed, but for some reason, I also cried? Lolz
