I can tell this will be a book that will stay with me a while. There were a couple of minor, unnecessary fatphobic descriptions of characters (fat = bad, thin = good) that took away from my enjoyment.

Audio book may have caused part of this rating. I didn’t care for female narrator. Also, didn’t understand why the deep dive on one of the characters. Why not a different one or all of them?

In the first chapter a 4 year old Native American disappears. The books follows her life and the life of her brother who was the last to see her. The chapters alternate between them as they go through life. Incredibly sad but it also felt rewarding, every joyful moment, or moment of growth is well earned.

4 year old Ruthie has dreams and memories of the Blueberry picking Mi'kmaq family she was stolen from one August in Maine.. This story tells about her life with the affluent parents that raised her, and the lifelong trauma of the family from which she was taken.

This book was a great story!! There are so many mommy issues I want to address but Norma powered through so go off queen. I liked how the story was over like 50 years.

This was a sad, frustrating read. I wonder if there was any truth to this story?
