The first half of the book didn't work much for me. There was too much Nick in it, and Joan becomes an annoying character when she is alone with him. It feels repetitive, the constant reminded of how much she loves him, the different versions of him, mourning one moment and being horny the next, and since it was established since the previous timelines and their 'love's carries over, it feels forced. Sometimes it felt like the flow halted to focus on Nick and how perfectly Hollywood Heroic he is. It was annoying. I got it the first 100 times, no need to repeat it another 100. You really feel the absence of the other characters in the first half. Aaron and Ruth more than the others.

Once the group reforms it is slightly better, but their dynamic is a little boring without Aaron around. He does bring more life to the story when he joins up around the 60% of it. It does feel like Joan can exist, for a few moments at least, at peace with herself when she is around him, without that constant shame and guilt she seems to feel every time Nick opens his mouth, looks at her, or exists heroically in her vicinity.

I enjoyed the plot, but being mostly Nick for the first half really does drag the book down. I hope the 3rd one can have more balanced group time.

Started slow but when it picked up it got really good after that.
Looking forward to see what will happen in the 3rd book. So far I've been enjoying this series

So I'm gonna make a guess about the next book:
Spoiler I think Nick and Joan will end up together and Aaron is gonna take up the role as king.
Who knows, of course, until it comes out, but I have a feeling.. idk. Anyway, I'd initially had those ML's roles reversed, but seeing as one was made a certain way, I don't think it's possible for him to take up the Crowned Big Role.

I enjoyed this book! Very emotional. I've been Team Aaron since book one. And I still am. But I'm gonna keep it real with you all, I don't think he's gonna be the endgame, unfortunately. Just the vibes I'm getting.

Really good instalment that didn't feel like filler. I love books about time travel and alternate timelines. I can't wait to see how things wrap up. I'm still Team Aaron (but I'm braced for disappointment). I usually prefer tall, dark and broody but Nick is just a bit too principled and dull. Aaron is more nuanced, morally grey and interesting, plus I just want to see him get a HEA.

The world is so cool, but the time travel is just exhausting.
