Really enjoyed this book! Who doesn't love a sexy cowboy and a villiage full of weirdos! Beautifully written and really enjoyable! Don't think my summer will be as good as this!

Didn't love this - can't put my finger on why, but just didn't work for me, which is unusual given that it's a romance with an old house that needs saving and that is one of my favourite tropes - see Katie Fforde's Stately Pursuits and Trisha Ashley's Winter's Tale. Hey ho.

*I received this book through netgalley for a honest and fair review*

This was such a great book! I was honestly swept away by the sweetness and read the book without realizing how much time went past.

I should probably confess, I love romance in books. I don't need it but, it is like a breath of air in the book for me. I generally don't read strictly romance books, though. This book is making me rethink that.

This book takes place in England but, the main guy love interest is a 'cowboy' from the US of A. At first I wasn't sure how to take that. I might have groaned while thinking of how stereotypical the book was going to get. It didn't. Well, okay there are a lot of things which were overdone but, they were used as a comedy factor! I didn't realize I would laugh in this book but, I did! And I loved Robinson's character.

Speaking of comedy, that brings me to the village. Now, this is the part I'm sure people will either love or hate. Personally, I love it. I love goofy, silly characters. Absolutely absurd, at times, which make them seem unrealistic! Yet, I love it.
*I did think the side romance came out of nowhere...and was weird but, I went with it without thinking too much because it was really like the characters*

I thought the romance flowed well and wasn't super instantaneous. Really built up a bit.
The conflict was sad and made me connect to the characters more.

I thought parts were really realistic which I absolutely loved (i.e. when Alice goes to the bank) but there was still a lot of unrealistic events which made the book charming and cute.

This was such a sweet read and one I will definitely be re-reading in the future. Perhaps next summer on a hot day ^_^

Recommendation? Oh, yes. If you would like to read a fun, quirky, and adorable book this is one I would definitely tell someone to read.
Read it 'N Smile!

This was a cute yet charming read on a woman not only finding love, but finding herself through a hot summer in London. Some people might hate the fact she was never divorced when she started her relationship with Robinson, but I believe both leads were in separation with their partners and I have no problem with it. I definitely recommend if you are looking for a soft, romantic, yet steamy book.

This was the perfect antidote to my previous full on human misery novel.

'One Hot Summer' is a cute novel about two very different people from two different parts of the world, who are both recently separated from their respective partners.

Alice McBride is English, blonde and demure. Robinson Duff is a country music star from the USA. He seeks refuge from his crazy star life and ends up in Alice's manor which she has to now rent because she can't afford the repayments.

Kat French is a very skilled writer, who does characterization, descriptions, and romantic moments really well.

While I am not big on country music anything, I didn't have any issues with our male hero, who was truly charming and all that. A bit too perfect, but let's face it, we don't read romance for its life like qualities.

'One Hot Summer' i> was enjoyable, albeit somewhat formulaic (I know, it's romance!) in that it had the quirky, eccentric best friend and neighbours and the over-bearing exes. I had trouble suspending my disbelief a couple of times, but there wasn't anything too dramatic, just my brain going all logical and logistical.

Overall, it was pleasant enough, but not great. But I do look forward to reading Kat French's next novel.
