i obviously can’t use my regular criteria for plot, prose, characters, etc. for this book. i think camus did a good job of writing meursault and his realization of the absurdity of life through the events of the plot and the matter of fact writing style lends to this as well. i do think an understanding of absurdism would be helpful before reading this book though since it’s an exploration of a singular man’s evolution into self awareness, shaping his thoughts and actions throughout the book which wouldn’t have made any sense otherwise.
