This was a nice light read. I enjoyed the witting characters and the life that Erin McCarthy brings to them. I felt like I was dropped right in the middle of their world in Vegas and completely understood what was going on. I enjoyed this lighter view of vampires and their habits. Most vampire books are a bit dark but this one was really not. The relationship between Alexis and Brittney was interesting and helped to me really understand each of these women. There were some VERY hot sex scenes in this book. Contraryy to the synopsis above this book was much more about the growing relationship between Ethan and Alexis that this political election. The politic did add a bit of drama to the book but did not seem to be the main focus.

First in the Vegas Vampires paranormal romance with the couple focus on the human Brittany Baldizzi and the vampiric Ethan Carrick.

My Take
This was cute in a light, fluffy way with a different vampire culture. They elect Presidents for 40-year terms! They have platforms and policies. In Vegas!

So far, it's mostly "good" vampires with their own personalities.

McCarthy uses this novel to set up the future of the series. The Story
Ethan Carrick needs a First Lady and Brittany Baldizzi is perfect, but Alexis Baldizzi has no intentions of leaving her sweet sister in his evil clutches.

Getting that invitation to join an online vampire slaying group seems an ideal solution, until Alexis realizes they seem to know every move she makes.

And Donatelli has no compunctions about killing his way to the top.

The Characters
Alexis Baldizzi is the feisty Las Vegas prosecutor. Brittany is her sweet sister, a free-spirited dentist who only wants to save the vampires from their soulless existence — and provide them with dental care.

The current president of the vampires, Ethan Carrick, owns a fancy hotel/casino. His chief of staff is a vampire who acts more like a fuddy-duddy politico more concerned with image and polls.

Corbin is technically, a banished vampire who continues to carry out his experiments in Vegas.

Roberto Donatelli is the vampire running on the opposite platform from Ethan's — free run for vampires and all the humans they can bite.

I didn't have high expectations for this book. But it actually wasn't too bad. It kind of reminds me of the Love at stake series because it is so overly vampire cheesy but in an entertaining way that makes you like it despite how cliche it can be.

A light, silly, enjoyable romance - this was a perfect escape from a couple of really crummy weeks at work.

Not bad, not the best. I first read this book when I was a teen and completely obsessed with vampire romances. Nostalgia made me pick this up again. It wasn’t terrible, but not something I would rave about either.

This book is the kind that shouldn’t be taken seriously. It was cheesy (which would be good if you are in the mood) and it had it’s moments.

I think my biggest complaint is how the story hopped around a bunch. While I’m used to romance novels bounces from a few key perspectives, this felt like it touched on so many characters that it was borderline chaotic.

Not sure if I’ll pursue the series (maybe if it were to go on sale).

Fun and cute, really easy read. I liked this as a set-up to a series. Alexis is hilarious and her rapport with Ethan was really good. Definitely looking forward to reading some more!

*** 3½ stars ***

Ethan Carrick is not just an ordinary vampire. He is 900 year old and he has seen it all. Nothing can surprise him anymore. So with his experience he is the perfect candidate for the president of the vampire nation. He just needs a fiance to further advertise his calm and professional image.

The only thing shorter than Alexis Baldizzi is her temper. When something gets on her nerve she is not ashamed to voice her opinion loudly and clearly for everyone. And the thing that irritates her most is pompous casino owner Ethan Carrick.

When these two opposites collide, sparks will fly (and some karate chops). Ethan will become 'Garlic' and Alexis 'BB' aka. 'Ball Buster'.

Light and funny reads. If characters were a little bit better developed, I would have given it maybe even 4 stars.
