This just wasn't a great book for me and it was a bit of a slog. It starts off as a murder mystery but then takes on different genres the further you get in.

There is so much detail (probably too much detail on things) that you really have to concentrate on it. It's unique and nothing like I've read before, but I also found it quite odd.

Even after finishing it, I'm really not sure if I've understood it.

So I only got about halfway through this book. I for some reason just couldn’t get into it. Right off the bat I was struggling with the writing style. Like I had to re-read certain paragraphs cuz I just couldn’t understand what was happening. I still don’t really know what’s happening. It got super boring and I just struggled to follow along. I don’t feel connected to any of the characters. Maybe I’ll try to read it again one day. I feel bad because Lindsay picked this book out for me at graduation and we both thought it sounded interesting but yeah. I kind of wonder if it’s because the author is from New Zealand, so maybe it’s a cultural difference? I rarely don’t finish books but I just haven’t been reading lately because I felt like I couldn’t start a new book because of this one but I also don’t want to read this one. I’ve tried long enough though.
