Haunted on Bourbon Street is the first book in the Jade Calhoun series and this was just a great way to start off a new series. I just had so much fun reading this story. It was just so easy to get lost in and I just didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Entertaining and easy read. Weird and incongruous religion mixing in one part that had me scratching my head. The romance came a little too easy, the villain identified a little too easily, but all in all, the book kept me up late to finish so I'll check out the next one.

Pretty good fluff book. A good quick and easy read.

This mystery about a haunted apartment started very, very slow. Jade Calhoun is introduced to us as a character with a strange gift, she's an empath. Never one to shy away from supernatural gift stories, I loved this idea. I found myself wishing I knew more about Jade; though perhaps this is the idea since it will evidently be a recurring character. The author seemed to hit her stride midway through the novel and really got into an ending I loved. If you can get through the beginning of the book you're in for an ending that will keep you talking for awhile. Enjoyable, for sure. Overall, 3 stars.

I’ve read this series and I do enjoy these books from Deanna. I enjoy her style of writing and how well it flows for me has a reader. This first book is my go to when I don’t know what to read next. I love how everything is set up within the book and that it’s based in New Orleans. Everything is well explained and gets to the point.

The haunted history of New Orleans is legendary. I’ve personally never seen a ghost and don’t actually believe in them, but I obviously love reading about the supernatural universe. This book (575 pages on the Nook) was a free pick-up and it ended up being way more than I expected. The author did an excellent job with character development. There was a diverse mix of personalities and you felt like you got to know more than just the main character, Jade. The plot was different from anything else that I’ve read in this genre. It was very good, but there was a lot going on. When I finished the book it almost felt like I’d just read 2 or 3 books, instead of just the one. There was some explicit sexual content, so I’d say ages 16+. Haunted on Bourbon Street held my attention for the entire book and I even picked up the second in this series. You’ll fall in love with Jade, Kane and Pyper if you pick up this free read. I would recommend Haunted on Bourbon Street, as long as those romance scenes won’t bother/offend you.

I actually rated this 3.5 stars, but you can't rate that way here.

I would have given this book 5 stars, but the ending got weird. Otherwise, really good book. It kept me intrigued, and I enjoyed the little bit of romance. I wish the author had explained Dan's behavior better, I thought he was possessed by Roy. I also got sick of Ian and his readings long before Piper did; took her long enough to figure out that he wasn't actually helping! I really liked Bea's character and wish she had been more prominent. Still, great story.

Probably not going to return to this author in the future. But if you’re into the “trashy romance” genre of this sort, there’s ten books in this particular series. (Nothing really against trashy romance. I used to read a ton of it when I was 18-20 years old.)

This was at least mildly engaging (not like that! And yea, also like that…which - okay, yeah, is a turn on, even if it can be a little cringeworthy) and entertaining, even amid several glaring typos, and the chapters were short.
