And so in 5-year-old Cat a baby fangirl was born.

Not much to say. These were the first chapter books I ever read and the first books I remember falling head over heels in love with and in love with the characters. I remember thinking Violet was so grown-up (eight years old!) and wanting to be just like her. I remember adoring Sprite with everything in me. I'm 21 now and I don't think these books have seen a re-read since I was about 7, but there's still scenes I remember with perfect clarity, from the first book right through to the last.

Basically, top-notch children's literature. I don't even know if these books are still in print but I really would recommend them for young readers (5-8 maybe, depending on the kid) and their parents.

A sweet start to an early chapter book series, very much along the same lines as the Rainbow Magic Fairies.

I love James Bernardin's cover designs for this series and Thea Kliros did an amazing job with the interior illustrations! The artwork truly brings this story to life and gives it the magical feel that drew me to it as a kid. The writing itself is pretty choppy, since it's aimed at a younger audience, but it holds a lot of charm and this first book effortlessly establishes the lore of the world its characters come from in a way that will make kids curious for more.
