A friend recommended this book and said it was one of her favorites ever, so I really tried to get into it. But the writing style is very simple and the conflicts are kind of boring. I think maybe realistic YA fiction is not really the genre for me.

I loved almost everything about this book. This should be required reading in middle/high school and I plan on having my sons read it this summer. I know the author said that this is not meant to be educational, and she took some artistic liberties,  but it's still such an insightful look into what it's like for a trans teenager and how they are affected by their cis peers, which I feel is so important for cis people to learn!

With all of these triggers it is amazingly well written. Looking at all the topics covered I'm surprised how well each was handled so my overall impression of the book was unbelievably positive and encouraging.
