the way the mental health topics are handled in a serious but also kind way makes me so happy. There’s gonna be kids who read this and feel safe and heard and that’s one of the most important things.

“One ‘sorry’ doesn’t make up for all the things you said. So congrats on your incredibly difficult realization that gay people actually do have feelings and have a nice life.”

Can this series get anymore perfect?? I’ve been attempting to spread out when I read the volumes so that I can savor the story. Nick and Charlie are so cute and their friend group is wonderful, too.

This volume started to deal with some heavy and triggering topics, but it dealt with those topics in such a gentle and sensitive way. Even though it was hard to read some of the scenes where Charlie was really struggling, I was glad that Alice decided to bring up these topics in this series.

The scene discussing intimacy and consent was so cute!! I really don’t see enough books discuss these topics. Normally it just jumps into the adult content but this series is really taking it’s time with getting Charlie and Nick to get to know each other before they decide to take that step (if they even decide to do that - it’s not a necessary part of every relationship).

I don’t really have much else to say. I’m just so in love with this series and the characters. I want to end my review with another quote since there were so many good ones in this volume:

“There’s this idea that if you’re not straight, you HAVE to tell all your family and friends immediately , like you owe it to them. But you don’t. You don’t have to do anything until you’re ready.”
