Unfortunately kind of stereotypical Hallmark movie-esque romance.. it has an almost unbelievable amount of trauma, deeply toxic relationship traits and a plot twist that didn't make any narrative sense. It's probably more enjoyable if you don't think about it too much LOL

This book requires content warnings which I’ll put below!
I wasn’t sure what to think of this book to be honest. Obviously Avery is going through an extremely traumatic time, and having Jude and his children around are an asset. But Elle didn’t make anything easy for her and I struggled with the believability of their relationship change 🥲
However, there are some moments where you can see the beauty of the nuance (e.g. Avery and Willow’s relationship clearly has gone through a lot of trials and tribulations and the fact they start to acknowledge this is precious). I quite liked the ending as well ☺️
I must say, I wasn’t expecting the twist of Oliver being dead! Wow! 😫

After experiencing a horrible trauma 7 years ago, Avery returns home and must face the past in order to move forward in her future.
This story was incredibly moving and emotional from the get-go. At its core, the themes of grief, reflection, and moving on were very powerful and cathartic. There were a few minor threads that felt a little unexplored and left me wanting more, but it was still a very satisfying read. The relationships (especially between the women) are the true star of the tale: romantic, sisterly, motherly, platonic, they're all created with such depth and care. The emotional threads are the true heart of this work, this needs to be on everyone's TBR. Forgiveness — of others, and of yourself— is so important, and Rochelle B Weinstein's tale captures that gravity with ease.

Firstly, i didn't know what to expect going into this book. I've never read any of the authors other works but now I must. The plot line is filled with emotions about moving on, self healing and finding ways to live with ourselves as people. This book has a good mix of side characters who move the whole story along at a perfect pace, Elle has a special place in my heart. I loved how this book ended and there were a few plot twists that absolutely broke my heart. The story is raw and shows you the best way to help your fears is to face them, head on.
