I finished this story last week, and sometimes you just need a good cozy mystery in your life! I’m a huge fan of the Hallmark movies, so I’m really happy that I finally reached for the books. I opted to listen to this one, and the narrator did an amazing job; I also thought she sounded quite a bit like Jewel, who stars in the films! I felt as if I was right there with the FMC, whom I both envy and adore for her restoration expertise (I love home design but lack any technical handiness

I love Kate Carlisle's Bibliophile Mystery series, so I figured I'd like this one too. So far, I'm charmed. Shannon is a smart, likable heroine and I look forward to reading more about her.

This book was ok. A little slow, but in its defense it had a lot of characters to establish. I liked the characters. The writing is what brings this book down. Predictable plot and unrealistic dialogue had me rolling my eyes a bit too much.

I think I have found a new love. I really enjoyed this book it was a fun easy read. Even though it was about murder lol. I really enjoyed our main character Shannon Hammer who is a female contractor which I totally love that she is in a male-dominated field. Who lives in a small coastal town and unfortunately Shannon stumbles upon the body of the guy she went on a blind date with at one of her construction sites who had been killed using one of her tools and now she is the main suspect. While we read about Shannon trying to figure out who is the murderer you get to learn more about Shannon and her friends and family and Shannon is someone if in real life I could see myself being friends with. She is really down to earth will do anything for her friends and little town that she lives in. Shannon is also single in this book and there is what looks like the beginning of a love triangle between the police chief and Mac Sulivan the crime Author that has just moved to the small little town I'm sure we will see this develop a little further as the series goes on but in the first book it is very early stages. There is definitely some predictable moments when Shannon is trying to find out who the murderer is but that didn't take away from the storyline for me. There is also a few characters that I do not like and that is just so bitchy and your typical mean girls that seem to have not grown up maturity wise at all even though they are in there 30's. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and I will be continuing on with the series to find out what else Shannon gets herself into.

A fun new cozy mystery series! Shannon Hammer is a general contractor in Lighthouse Cove, California. She owns a set of pink tools and helps restore old Victorian homes in the area like her father did. A blind date set up by a friend goes south, and suddenly Shannon is going to have to clear her name of any wrongdoing and find a murderer before it's too late. I think the character's were a little underdeveloped in this one, but look forward to seeing how things go in the next book in the series.
