I was bored at work so I read this to pass the time and to get closer to my annual reading goal.

This book is basically Horrible Histories met Caitlin Doughty kind of deal. It is funny and gorey non fiction book made for kids and teens. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to younger readers and adults alike.

I come across the most interesting books while working at the library.

A look at how a handful of famous people in history died, and not a very glamorous one. The book is not for those with weak stomachs. There are gross details about boils and puss, bodies practically exploding after death, beheadings, and blood-letting. Aimed for teenagers, with a bit of humor, a nice albeit gross, look at history, fascinating trivia and of course, slightly gruesome deaths,

I think, as a kid, I would have gobbled this book up. The adult in me wants more information about the lives of all the people included. Luckily for me, there is a section at the end with more information.

Describes in morbid and gory detail how 19 historical figures came to an end followed by “fun facts” relating to each section such as steps for a successful leeching, what was eaten in one day by Henry VIII & his court, & odd things mummies were used for. Humorous and informative geared for YA.

This is fun in that gross sort of way. History can be so interesting so why do so many history folks present it in such a bland manner?! Braggs certainly isn't boring and each chapter is filled with more than just how a famous individual died. Rather each chapter is more a reflection of how these individuals lived, their relationships, and quirky habits. It also makes me truly appreciation soap, antibiotics, and modern health care. An interesting and quick read.

This was a fantastic read about how some of the most famous people in history have died. I enjoyed this book and wished there were more people featured. The main takeaway from this book is that medical science has come so far. My favorite people that I learned about was was Garfield, Beethoven, and George Washington.
