Absolutely fantastic. I felt it was a little slow to start, I started the first few chapters, left it for a few days and then finished the majority of the book in one day. But that could be the audiobook or the mood I was in rather than the book.

The twists and turns were unbelievable. A few I had guessed but it never felt like it was super predictable. I really loved every minute of it, beginning, middle and end, it's so enjoyable.

Parts of The Passengers were 4 stars for me, and others dropped to 2 stars, so I've averaged.

I did like how the stories of each of the characters developed, but I didn't like any of the characters, and so I didn't really have anyone to champion. There was genuine tension and some genuine twists, but I think because the characterisation and emotion fell flat for me, I didn't feel any of it as keenly as I could have done.

I didn't dislike Libby as such, but she was just really boring and underdeveloped. Defined by events in her past and not seeming to exist outside of them, she felt 2D as if she existed for this story only (yes, I know she obviously is, but I mean I didnt feel like Id picked up a book and stumbled into Libby's life, I felt like I picked up a book and she was a character in it only)

I also felt like Jack was too immediately dislikable. I felt like him developing from semi-goode to baddie could have been much more subtle to reveal an enemy within the ranks.

I liked all the twists and turns concerning the hacker's identity, but it felt quite rushed, yet loads of page time was given to Jack being a prick and Libby soaking everyone with her we tvlanket monologues. So the hacker was wrapped up, too quickly for me.

Likewise, the start nearly lost me a few times because it was just trundling along. It needed a bit of a trim to keep me hooked.

Yet there were points where I was genuinely tense, and I couldn't stop reading, sneaking off to a quiet part of the house to squeeze in an extra five minutes of reading time.

Overall, I liked the idea. There were some really good elements, but it needed a good edit, and maybe a hundred pages chopped out, and some stronger characters with more powerful, individual, and emotive voices.

I think this one would work better as a TV show where the whole story goes over 8 episodes, and each week, you delve into the passengers' stories through flashbacks. In book form, it didn't come across as well.

My jaw dropped so many times reading this, I’m shocked it hasn’t been a movie adaptation yet lol

Personally, I think the book would have been more impactful if it ended when the car-hijacking situation ended, but those twists were INSANE
