Don't start this book expecting it to be a follow up to the shining or you'll be disappointed. Additionally, give this book some time to work its magic on you, for me it took a while till I could find a story worth holding onto but I'm glad I stuck with it because it was a wonderful journey. We see Danny grow into a man who developed similar problems do his father but has more heart that his father had. We see family and friendship and darkness in that special King way.

Excellent follow up to the shining.  Excellent exploration of addiction and recovery and the power of people and the story was hart felt and honest.
