I didn’t really remember what happened at the ending of Shadowland, third book in the series but I remembered it pretty quicky while reading Dark Flame. At the beginning I couldn’t really get into it but when I finally got hooked I couldn’t put it down. It’s really short (230 pages) and I could read it in one day but it took me a bit more because I didn’t feel like reading it at the beginning, as I already said.

Ever was super annoying, especially at the beginning. She’s really STUPID, weak and she just complicates everything. I hate that she didn’t want to tell Damen or anyone what she did with that spell because she was ASHAMED! Come on! I wanted to slap her. Seriously. I really don’t know how Damen can stand her all the time, she does such stupid things. And when she finally does something right, someone else ruins it. Okay, that sucks. Damen was great as always and I really like him but I don’t understand why he didn’t want to go with Ever to Summerland, everything would be so easier if he just did. I really want for him and Ever to be together because they are amazing together. I love Jude! I like him so much more than Damen, he’s great and I loved every scene with him. I feel so sorry for him because he don’t want to give up on Ever but I don’t want those two to be together. Seriously, what do all these guys see in Ever?! She’s so stupid! And Jude deserves some better girl. I never actually like two main male characters in the book before but here I like both Damen and Jude and it’s so confusing. But I like Jude a bit more. I hated Roman! I would thought I’d like him because mostly I like guys like him but I didn’t. Nope. He’s so disgusting, awful and I didn’t like him at all. Okay, maybe a little at the end when we found out what is his story SPOILER ALERT! but then he died and I’m not sorry because of it. Yeah, Jude killed him and also ruined any chance for Ever and Damen to ever touch ecahother again. Go Jude! I don’t know why I found that so funny… It was so surprising that Ava is Romy and Rayne’s aunt. I didn’t see that coming but I glad that happened. It was also pretty unbelievable that Haven immediately accepted the fact that she’s immortal and everything but I do understand her reaction when she thought how cool her new powers are. I mean, being immortal is perfect life, right? You look great, you live forever and you can make whatever you want out of nothing. What else can you want? Only because Ever can’t just enjoy her life and has to complicate everything it doesn’t mean everyone else has to do the same.

When Ever ”freed” herself from Roman, I knew it can’t be that simple and that she screwed something again. There were still a lot of pages to read and I knew something bad will happen. And it did. The ending was amazing, so intense and it really seemed like everything is going to be good and I found myself thinking how many books are there in these series because it can’t be that this is tha last book but then Jude showed up and fucked up everything so we now have a plot for two more books (I checked, there are 6 books in the series). I really like Jude and I hate how Ever is just using him to get what she wants and he lets her do that becuase he loves her. Urgh! I hate Ever!

Writing stlye is pretty easy, you can fly through pages and I liked that. It’s quick, simple read, perfect for summer. The thing that bothered me is that these series remind me of Twilight too much. At first I didn’t realize it but now I can see it. Ever is as weak and annoying as Bella but thank god, Damen is much better thad Edward. Much more awesome. Jude is maybe Jacob. Yeah, that sucks. Alyson Noel made up an amazing and unique world but her characters are not unique and special at all. Especially Ever. So plain and uninteresting. She could do so much more but I still love these series even though there are a lot of better series out there. I do recommend these books, though.

My least favorite trope is miscommunication, and unfortunately that's the entire book. Everything is based around Ever keeping secrets when she shouldn't and sharing secrets with the wrong people. I did enjoy the end when she had a redemption and finally told people the truth, but it was hard to get to that point. This book dragged a little. There was no new goal or evil, just the same old story told again. I'm going to finish the series, but I'm hoping the last 2 are better than this one was.

Three and a half stars. It was better than [b:Shadowland|19580|Shadowland|Peter Straub|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1167258548s/19580.jpg|926255] but Ever is still a fucking idiot. The first half of the book she's got this 'monster' ranging her in that wants her to sleep with Roman because stupidly she bound herself to him. Didn't you figure out that problem in the book before this? Why would you try to undo it when magic just seems to be useless in this book? Plus her going through all the motions, crystals, herbs, soothing bath. Had me rolling my eyes. We get it, lame ritual, can you get on with it now?

But yeah Roman. I wanted her to sleep with him. It would've make this series a hundred-times better. No, he sense had to come over her and she knees him in the balls and he tells her to fuck off. I mean really, she's so tightly wound it would probably make her feel so much better.

This whole book is supposed to be about Haven and her change. At least that's what the summary leads you to believe. Yeah, Haven is barely in the book. Which kinda sucks, she's SO much more interesting. Even though she is a bit more of a bitch. I mean really? That last scene? Get over yourself and your boyfriend who you said doesn't love you. And yes it's all Ever's fault.

Damen's getting on my nerves too. He's way too understanding. He even basically came out and said he doesn't blame Ever for anything she did. OMFG WHAT? I'm sure she has to take the blame for a lot of the shit she has done.

Still don't buy this whole soul mates thing. Yeah, she'll probably end up with Damen but I want her with Jude. At least he doesn't think she's perfect no matter how many stupid things she does.

Seri Immortals: Buku Empat

Penulis: Alyson Noel

Penerjemah: Nuraini Mastura

Penerbit: Mizan Publika

ISBN: 9789794336502

Damen mengerutkan kening. Dia mendesah dan menggeleng. Tatapannya muram. Tak pernah kulihat dia seperti itu sebelumnya. “Kenapa kamu memercayai Jude, Ever? Kenapa kamu menceritakan kelemahan-kelemahan kita kepadanya?”

Well, I must say I was not expecting that ending. That's always a good thing right; Having a twist you didn't really expect. That being said I was a little ehhh with the beginning. It just seems as if the characters constantly deal with the same issues. I'm not saying I didn't like the book, because I did. It was a good book, just not my favorite in the series.

I never really liked Haven, and I did find her annoying through out the book. When you get about half way through it does seem to pick up a bit, at least for me. I found myself wanting to keep reading to find out what was going on within Ever. Damen, is his sweet, sweet self of course, sometimes you want to hit Ever for being so cruel towards him. He is the best boyfriend in the entire world! Now, Jude... I found myself liking him a bit more in this installment, such a down to earth kind of guy. Also, Roman we know he's the enemy, the person you should hate, but by the end of the book I was feeling sympathetic towards him, semi-understanding him.

Though the ending was good, and sets up perfectly for the next book in the series, I didn't feel a huge "suspense" feeling for this book. You know how some books you're reading and it builds and builds and then you're like 'omg what's going to happen?!' ... well I didn't feel that way about Dark Flame, though I did enjoy it. It's a dark book, with love, magic, torment, and understanding. I'm curious to see where she takes it in book #6: Night Star.
