I was fully prepared to just find this average since I wasn’t a huge Leroy fan. But Jay Hogan successfully convinced me me to like him and I adored this book. I’m even excited for Kane’s story now too.

I looked at my list of books to review and immediately chose On Board as my next read! I know what I usually expect from a Jay Hogan story and On Board was no exception!

I actually enjoyed this Painted Bay better than the first one. I loved the I-hate-you-because-I-want-you fights.

2.5 stars, rounding down because I was so pissed off about the dog being used as a bargaining tool by the cheating ex. That’s too low. Using an innocent animal. I disliked this part of the story so much that it made me raging mad. So yeah, I’m lowballing the rating.

The narration was great. I liked Leroy and Fox’s relationship too, even if Leroy was a bit too much of a mess sometimes. Some arguments really got out of hand. My feelings about Kane are torn. He did horrible things in the past but now it was like kicking a puppy or something, to rage on him. It made me uncomfortable. He’s obviously a closet case, and I’m not just saying that because he’s the MC of the next book.

3.5 stars. I love a redemption story. I really didn’t like Leroy at the start (you have to read the first in the series “Off Balance” to really understand why), plus he’s always rude & angry at the start of this one. By the end he’s so different it’s barely believable. I don’t know….I enjoyed it until about 75% and then I lost interest because of off-page sexy times and characters that had changed so much they weren’t recognisable. I love Jay’s books usually, but this one wasn’t my fave.
