I love heist films and reading this brought about a thrilling and fun energy reminiscent of such movies. Kat very much plays the straight-man (straight-woman? straight-girl?) to the colorful cast found in Heist Society. I found the locales, action and info fascinating. The pervasive wit was standout as well. My only issue here was how experienced and mature the teen thieves seemed. I understand that they occupy the very grown-up world of art thievery, but their wealth of experience and their jaded attitudes straddled the line of believability. It would have made more sense coming from people in their early 20s rather than their mid-teens. Still, it was a very fun read and I hope there's more from this group in the future since there were some threads left loose in the end that I'm most curious about.

Katarina (Kat) Bishop is retired as a thief at least she’s trying to be she’s attending a boarding school. However being normal isn’t easy but it’s consistent unlike being a thief. When a guy from her past shows up at school he plans to bring her back to the life she’s tried to move past. Her father is in trouble being blamed for robbing five painting from a mobster and unless Kat can get them back they will all be in for a world of hurt.

With the help of her cousins and Hale the young billionaire Kat has to hunt down the missing paintings. When the trail leads them to the Henley one of the highest security museums it’s up to Kat to figure out a plan. Both her uncle and father agree she should pass but she has to save her friends and father from the mobster. Besides the painting don’t really belong to him in the first place and Kat wants to do what’s right. Will she be able to break into the Henley? Who is this mysterious robber who stole the paintings and hid them behind the other paintings at the Henley?

I didn’t connect with Kat at first she just frustrated me but as the book progress I was able to make a connection. She’s a good person at heart she just happened to grow up in a family of thieves. I liked Hale right from the start he’s the only one who didn’t grow up in a family of thieves but he’s a perfect addition to the team. Plus I like the idea of the handsome billionaire with Kat. We will have to see how the series progresses I have high hopes.

I’ve been hearing great things about Ally Carters books so when the chance came up to read Heist Society for not one but two challenges I jumped at the chance. While I didn’t connect right away with the main characters I grow to enjoy all the characters and Kat got better as the book progressed. I found the concept new and exciting this is my first book with thieves and the fact that it was about art was fascinating. I enjoyed the writers style it flows along from start to finish it's a books teens as well as adults will enjoy. The book started a little slow for my tastes but was worth it in the end. It’s a quick fast paced action packed read once the story picks up a little. I enjoyed the book and plan to read the rest of the series as well as check out her other books.

I loved these books as a 10-year-old wannabe badass, and I still love these books as a 23-year-old wannabe badass. The teenage protagonists are suave, smart, and cooler than I will ever be and I have made my peace with it. I blitzed through this whole series this afternoon. Highly recommend if you wanna read the YA-novel equivalent of Ocean’s 8. Also, shoutout to Ally Carter’s insatiable horniness for canonically making every human in her books supermodel-levels of attractiveness. I too would allow Nick’s Interpol agent mom to put me under arrest, and I would probably thank her for it.

This book is like a young female version of Ocean's Eleven populated by Cassandra Clare characters. I LOVED it! I hope it's been optioned because it would make an awesome movie.

4.5 stars.

It's basically Ocean's Eleven, only with teenagers & strong female characters.

Kat was born into a family of professional thieves, but after spending her first 15 years learning the tricks of the trade, she decides to leave it all behind and try to lead a normal life. Unfortunately, it's not that easy to walk away from the family business...When 5 priceless paintings are stolen from Taccone, an internationally recognized Total Bad Guy, Kat gets pulled right back into her old life. Taccone thinks her father stole his paintings, and he gives Kat an ultimatum: She must either find and return the paintings to him within 14 days, or he'll hurt or kill everyone she loves. Kat and her team are on the job, but will they be able to pull off the heist of a lifetime?

Great story, tons of suspense, and fun characters. I loved it & will definitely be waiting for the sequel.

Though this is a young adult book, it was pretty good. It reminded me a lot of a younger Ocean's 11. The story was interesting and the characters had a spin. I would probably check out the next book!
