I decided to participate in the Book Riot 2016 Read Harder challenge, this year. I have never followed a reading plan before so I thought, let's give this a go.
I heard a review of the book Nevada, by Imogen Binnie and I thought it would be a perfect choice for a book by or about a transgender person. I have to say right off the bat, I loved Maria. She is a total hipster, who hates hipsters. She works in a bookstore, kinda like The Strand, loves her bicycle and is confused about most of the relationships in her life. I don't want to spoil anything but the book has two different voices. The first half is Maria and the latter half is a pot smoking teenager, named James who is struggling with his own gender identity. The second half really didn't have the same umph that I found in Maria's voice. All in all, I enjoyed the journey and look forward to what books Imogen Binnie releases in the future.

I liked it. It definitely reads like someone whose main writing has been online, but like, I love the internet or whatever.

I feel this is a very important work within trans literature and I am glad to have stumbled upon it!

Took way too long to get to the road trip described in the blurb. Also could not stand the main character.
