The premise of this book is rooted in the reality of our opioid epidemic. The atmosphere will be (sadly) relatable to most in the Midwest. I had trouble grasping the purpose of this book, and didn't find the plot particularly rich. That being said, it's definitely a weird, memorable novel. The sheer strangeness of the whole thing will leave you thinking about the book long after you've finished reading, and making "remote" shadow puppets to help get you through the day.
