This 3rd and penultimate compendium of The Walking Dead comics was AMAZING!!!! This one featured my two favourite adversaries the main group faced in the TV show: Negan and the Whisperers. I'm trying to think of another character in anything else I have read that says f*** as much as Negan does, but I really can't. The Whisperers are just as deranged in this as they were in the show. Neither villain was a disappointment in the comics at all! I can't wait to find out what else they throw at the main group in the final volume.

I am gobsmacked by the ending of this one!! I knew that it would happen, as it was in the show, but the people involved were completely different. I can't believe it!! I will be reading the final compendium asap!!

As always with these comics, the artwork was incredible! So much detail! Gross, bloody, but amazing!! This truly was an amazing continuation of the incredible comic series. So much happened, and I didn't want to put it down! Wow!! I loved it! I'll be sad to see this series over, but I can't wait to begin and complete the final volume!

Wow! Really, just wow. Robert Kirkman is so soft spoken and calm in person and then you read this stuff and you think "Is that just an act?"
Each of these compendium holds a lot of issues and I don't want to get spoiler-y, but I have to weigh in on the "bad guys" here. Negan is bad, I will admit that, but he is also funny in a "makes me feel guilty for laughing" way and I have never read a more inventive speaker, but the guy says a thing and means it. He isn't a welsher and if you do what he tells you to do or what you've said you will do, you can count on him doing what he's said he will. He may have said he'll kill a few people, but he WILL do what he says.
The Whisperers? Now they are terrifying bad guys. They are disgusting and I see nothing that makes their chosen style of survival even remotely appealing to anyone. It's just gross! Every time I see those cross hatches at the back of a neck I get the willies. I can see the natural, if sickening, progression of Negan's compound. We all know the power hungry exist, but Alpha just makes no sense to me. The way this group subscribes to animal instincts just doesn't resonate with what I think makes us human so I find them more scary than someone who, while repugnant, is understandable.
Kirkman does it again with this group of issues and I can't wait to read more.
