Fun. I love shipwrecks and underwater exploration so I am definitely interested in reading more of his books

I listened to and enjoyed the Fargo Adventures by Clive Cussler - but maybe I went too far back in time for this one. Pacific Vortex is the first of the Dirk Pitt series. I've seen the movie Sahara, but that is all I know about Dirk and his exploits. The first novel was ok - but the old narration was not great and the story was not that thrilling. Very meh for me. I might continue with the series (only if the narrator changes though!).

First time reading Cussler. As an Indiana Jones fan I'm always thirsty for adventure with a side dish of mystery and this book just delivers that. It builds up the plot decently and never loses it's pace. However the characters are a bit shallow and the romance arc of our Dirk Pitt is a bit dated and weak.
The story is about a new American submarine with the latest technologies implemented going missing in a Bermuda like area and our protagonist accidently finding a top secret capsule letter from the sub close to the beach. However as the marine forces prepare to investigate the area we find out that there's more to the story.

Just as good as I remember it being. Its not the best Dirk Pitt Adventure but if you want a good introduction to the character this is good place to start. I really wish this was released in hardcover because it doesn't match all of my other Dirk Pitt Adventures on the shelf.
