‘She wants him to ask her what she's reading conversations to know why no one ever asks her what she reading. It's just about the only thing she wants to talk about and she never gets the chance

Lona, I wish you well in the future. At 21 I also didn’t know what my future will look like. At 28 I still don’t.

Firstly George, no thanks.

Specs, I hope it works out for you.

After seeing this in the Waterstones clearance box for £3 I wasn’t expecting much, but I did really enjoy this. Lighthearted and easy to read. I weirdly liked the idea there that there wasn’t really any chapters. Just chunks

I recommended & I will be putting this on the hotel library shelf. I hope someone picks it up

An average book. I got what I expected, for the most part. The book is about navigating relationships and aimlessness and how everyone wants to keep some parts of them secret from others. Vivid descriptions of female lust, which is a plus for a young adult book. What disappointed me the most was the writing. I didn't find the main character interesting, mainly because she was so lukewarm (if that makes sense?). She gets a boyfriend without much difficulty, then loses said boyfriend without much difficulty, and also regains interest in making art when she doesn't have much else to do. There's not much inner conflict within her. She sulks a lot but rolls along with anything that comes up. It makes her somewhat boring.

Fantastic!
Well written, and so very south east melbourne.
Such a great and refreshing coming of age story.

I read this at the perfect time, it was exactly what I needed. A book about feeling sad and tired and lonely and lost but trying. YA but it didn’t really feel like it. Melbourne. Familiar. Like a hug. Like curling up in a cuddly blanket on a nice cold day. Lona reminds me of someone I once knew. A protagonist who so easily could have irritated me but Georgina made it impossible not to love her. 4.5

Found this one tricky to get into although I did enjoy it in the end.
It was just a little bit too slow at the beginning to keep my intrigue.

This was a quite unique book. At first I had some trouble to get acquainted with the writing style which at the end I became font. The story was clear in the beginning, with Lona just being annoyed by everything and everyone. She doesn't know what she really wants, she knows that she doesn't want what most of those around her want. That is at least something. I think the book shows how lost this generation feels and uncertain how to start navigate through all that is ahead of them.

I hate to say it but I was pretty bored reading this book. The writing style wasn't my favorite either. Lona just seems to be feeling sorry for herself the entire book, and at the end, she's still feeling sorry for herself. I also didn't like when: the book did this. It did this: a lot. Why?

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an Advanced Copy of this book. I greatly appreciate it.
