Really didn't enjoy the apologist and "redemption arc" for the horribly abusive mother. Just because you lose your husband, doesn’t explain cruelty and torture to your kids

An entertaining enough read and parts I enjoyed, like the glimpses at the world history and magical system, but overall not my favorite read. So many fascinating things left unexplored and unexplained, and
