<"Nothing can cure the soul but the
senses, just as nothing can cure the senses but the soul."
"I want a breath of our passion to stir their dust into
consciousness, to wake their ashes intopain."
"the value of an idea has nothing whatsoever to do with the sincerity of the
man who expresses it. Indeed, the probabilities are that the more insincere
the man is, the more purely intellectual will the idea be, as in that case it will
not be coloured by either his wants, his desires, or his prejudices."
"Those who are faithful know only the trivial side of love: it is the faithless
who know love's tragedies."
"every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter.
The sitter is merely the accident, the occasion. It is not he who is revealed by
the painter; it is rather the painter who, on the coloured canvas, reveals
himself. The reason I will not exhibit this picture is that I am afraid that I have
shown in it the secret of my own soul.">
The whole book is a quotation.
It was such a personal level reading experience. There's so much bitter truth, so much shallowness, vanity, cruelty and hedonistic selfish human behavior. Throughout it was enchanting.
The description, the proses, the details, the depth all are weaven so well that one could not get out of its imagination.
Perhaps the only vague and pauseable i felt was the mid part where we see Dorian's first love interaction but i see what it did to Dorian and it was an absolute perfect.
Highly Recommended!

“The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame.”

Truly a morally contradictory book in so many ways.

Published in 1890 and it astounds me how insanely relevant this book is; to the society we are living, to this very day?!
I need to re-read this book, that I know for sure.

“Experience is merely the name men gave to their mistakes.”

It would be a discredit to tag this mastery of work by some mere adjectives. It amazes me how dangerously eloquent and intriguing [a:Oscar Wilde|3565|Oscar Wilde|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1521044377p2/3565.jpg]'s writing is! This is one of the highly quotable books I've ever read.

“What of Art?
-It is a malady.
--Love?
-An Illusion.
--Religion?
-The fashionable substitute for Belief.
--You are a sceptic.
-Never! Scepticism is the beginning of Faith.
--What are you?
-To define is to limit."

My favorite parts are conversations between the Aristrocratic Lord Henry and the staggeringly beautiful, impressionable Dorian Gray.

“You will always be fond of me. I represent to you all the sins you never had the courage to commit.”

Lord Henry is an absolute vile and manipulative creature, one shouldn't give attention to his perspectives at all, yet that person is intrigued and bound to listen to what he is saying. That is how I felt.
Dorian, he is your guide to "101 ways on how festering bad influence can be."
Basil is the symbol of empathy and morality. The only immediate and serious threat to Dorian's way of life and his pact with the forces of evil.

The ending was, in my opinion, perfect!! Oh how much I loved that scene!

“Behind every exquisite thing that existed, there was something tragic.”

"I didn't say I liked it Harry. I said it fascinated me. There is a great difference."

Interesting read. Amazingly poetic writing.

(I WILL listen to anything Ben Barnes narrates)
