Ok, 2.5.
I LOVED this authors first book.
I wished there were more books like it - a real romance with real humans dealing with real life stuff.
This could have been the same.
But.
It was boring.
I wanted to care.
And just didn’t.
I still don’t get the catalyst for the entire book. As someone who’s had to clean out the lives of beloved deceased relatives, I simply did not have the wherewithal to fixate on any one thing, so what makes her decide to even start investigating the duck.
I was willing to run with it, but it seemed like it was distracting from the storyline with Nick.
I don’t know.
Disappointed.

Such a refreshing read! Laurie is the strong-willed feminist I needed in this book. Many of the themes woven throughout are simultaneously familiar and exhausting.
“You’re XX years old and you’re not married?”
“You don’t have any kids yet? Why?”
“Why don’t you want to stay in one place?”
This was the perfect book to wrap up Women’s History Month for me. Linda crafted a fun and easy read while leaving a thoughtful message at the end!
Women are everything and so much more❤️ This story was a beautiful reminder you don’t have to fit into society’s expectations to live a beautiful, and unapologetically authentic life.

I loved the non-traditional story and the reminder that not everyone’s ideal life and story look like mine.

I had high hopes after Evvie Drake but ugh this one is a snore fest. I cringed at the awkward dialogue. The storyline was so boring and Laurie’s character was very annoying. A bit if a let down tbh!

Eh for the love story but had just enough intrigue in other plots to keep me reading. Wish the rest of the characters had been more flushed out but cute book.

It is both a mystery and a quirky love story. The book centers on strong female characters and our main character is on a journey of self discovery. Laurie is cleaning out her recently departed beloved great-aunt Dot's home. Laurie finds an item that stirs up a mystery. On her way to the truth she finds more about Dot's unconventional life. Laurie is lead to figure out not only the mystery, but what she wants her own life to look like in the end.

Recommended by my dear pharmacist friend who reads more than anyone I know. This was a fun read. I love that the characters were my age but the perspective of a fully grown independent woman, who had an amazing bond with her also fully independent great Aunt. I loved the wood duck and all of its secrets.
