It's not that the story is all that extraordinary, but the illustrations most certainly are. They're beautiful and full of humor and character. Would I love to live in that house as well ...

The pigs make themselves fine little dens, but when they go off exploring, they come home to find Moose and Bear have moved in. Obviously, they're a little too big for the pigs' homes and end up (accidentally) destroying them. They decide the solution is to make a house for ALL of them to live in, together! They hire the Beavers (who request Peanut Butter sandwiches as payment) to help and build a lovely home big enough for everyone.

The illustrations are filled with detail and while this will be a fun storytime read it would be especially good for one-on-one sharing.

Funny and sweet all at once with great illustrations. I need to buy this for somebody's child for Christmas [check - already bought for 2].

I also wrote this quicky review that may or may not appear in Metro Parent's July summer reading issue:

When two pigs, a bear and a moose find themselves without a home, they hire beavers to build them a big house to share – and fortunately the beavers wish to be paid in peanut butter sandwiches. Gentle illustrations show the team of animals at work, along with frequent meal breaks and a cozy bedtime ending.

Fall/Winter 2015 - Ben seemed entranced. Turned into a total favorite - he can finish most sentences, says goodnight to all the animals, etc. Calls it Moose in the House!

June 2016 - still a favorite, especially after playing Beaver Builders at the park.

an amazingly sweet tale of four friends creating a home together in the woods with help from other animals. Great illustrations. A delightful story.

Friendship rises high, as four unlikely friends, two pigs, a bear, and a moose, decide that instead of living in separate houses, they would all be much happier in one big house! The enlist the help of a pack of beavers to build them the home of their dreams and when it's complete, the foursome couldn't be happier. They can now spend their evenings together having dinner and relaxing by the fire.

Nothing incredibly exciting happens in this story, but every once in awhile we all need a "slow it down" story. This would make a great bedtime read, especially with the soft, beautiful illustrations. I loved it!

After two Little Pigs go for a walk in the woods, they come home to discover that their houses are being occupied. One Little Pig finds her friend Big Bear living in her den, but he is so big, the den is ruined. The other Little Pig discovers her friend Moose living in her hut, but her hut is ruined when Moose stands up. This left the four of them without a place to live. And that was a pickle. Then Moose suggests building a big house they can all live in together. So they call a team of Beaver Builders to help them, paying them with peanut-butter sandwiches. Pretty soon, the walls are up, and Big Bear is called to help. In no time at all, the house is finished, the bill is paid and the four friends move in. Chores are shared, stories are told, and soon everyone is sound asleep in their new home. I love the relationship of the four friends. My young readers thought the pigs would be mad at Moose and Bear, and this generated some good conversation about friendship. family, and cooperation and how sometimes we just have to make our own family with our friends. I love the detailed, almost impressionistic pencil, pastel and wash illustrations, done in a hazy fall palette. Sometimes we just have to make our own families.

You'll want to step right in to the gorgeous illustrations in this book & curl up by the fire with moose & his friends.  The expressive faces of the animals & the magical word Moore creates as the animals work together will delight readers of all ages.

Another 5 star read. The story is great, but it's the illustrations that really steal the show.
