An incredible true story about José Salvador Alvarenga beging adrift at the Pacific Ocean for 14 months finding a way to live with all the elements and his own brain.

I'm so glad he's been able to tell the story in a book. It was an emotional read where I tried to constantly remind myself this happened to a real person in real time. It puts some things in perspective of what really matters.

When reading you will read about friendship, mental battles, the importance and power of your mindset, raw survival and (although minor) ocean life. I also loved the facts to give the story more depth (not that it needs more depth but I can't find the right word :')) like stats on overfishing, shark consumption, the fishing community, ocean currents, body functions, nutrition and more.

I did find the book hard to read sometimes due to the very fast pace and frequent changes in perspective from story to quotes to third person (which was also a big plus). Would have loved more detail.
