I have really enjoyed all three of the books I've read in this series (the ones on Washington, Arizona, and now California).

I grew up in California. I hated it, and I consider myself to be from Washington, the state I chose to live in after high school, but technically... I am from California, southern California. *sob*

Anyway, moving on...This was another excellent introduction to a U.S. State. I actually learned something new, too. :-)

What was this new thing that I learned, you ask? It's that California's leading farm product is ... drum roll, please ... milk. I probably would have guessed strawberries or oranges or grapes. But I'd have been wrong. I can't say that I'm so very surprised, though. After all, not only did I grow up within walking and easy driving distance from many strawberry fields, but there were also many dairy farms, the closest in the nearby town of Chino. (I grew up in Montclair.) (Oranges were grown a bit further away, but still within easy driving distance. And grapes are actually California's second leading farm product.)

There was one mistake in this book that makes me twitch to read. It can be found on page 29: "Most ended up make [sic] a living another way." *twitch*

But apart from that one small mistake, this was a fun and educational book. I plan to gift it to my nieces, too (I already have plans to gift them Washington and Arizona). It'll be nice for them to learn about the state their Daddy was born and raised in. :-)
