I found this an enjoyable and suspenseful read. The only downside I can see is that some of his thoughts on the state of the world are a little heavy-handed. I don’t think things are quite as bleak as he paints them.

The book started with so much potential. Unfortunately so much of it was lost. The last 3rd of the book it seemed the author ran out of story and rushed to finish the book. The ending was so unsatisfying. I loved the characters but when the last member of the group was introduced it seemed like everyone lost what made them special.

Is it plagiarizing if an author steals from their own writing? Liberally lifted storylines from Odd Thomas and Twilight Eyes. Maybe Mr Koontz thought since that book was a long time ago it was ready for a reboot? Oh well, still enjoyable even if not original. I just wish he would stop having every single character speak like they are in a Shakespeare play.

It was pretty good. Some parts of it lost my interest, and I feel like somethings could have been explained better, and that somethings weren’t even relevant to the story at all and were just fillers, but over all it was a good book for being the first of his I’ve ever read.

The first Dean Koontz books I ever read happened to be still some of the best ones he has ever written. This is not as good as Lightning or Strangers, but Dean Koontz has still got it.

I've read a few Koontz books and have really enjoyed them. Pure eye or ear candy depending on the device I'm using. This one was not so good for me. The story just didn't grab me. And, the narration was a little weird, I thought.

The prose sprinkled throughout the book was off the charts in some spots. A bit much, almost as if Koontz put the accelerator down on his choice of words and analogies.

I'm not really big on sci-fi or fantasy and maybe that explains why I didn't enjoy this one as much. It was too far a stretch for me. The characters, although fleshed out to some degree just didn't connect with me. .
