What a great start to a new series! It includes two of my favourite tropes - single dad and fake relationship - so it was a good bet I would enjoy the story but DJ's writing draws you in to both MC's world's and the drama that comes with living in a small town.
Who wouldn't think it would be a good idea to fake date you son's teacher to get your mother and ladies to stop trying to get you to date. Only thing is you're straight.....right? Hunter and Clark meet when Toby, Hunter's son, attends Clark's GrasshoPeers group to help with his schoolwork. Both men having interfering older ladies in their lives trying to set them up on dates and so a random joke leads to them going on a date or two.
This is a fairly low angst romance and I loved how things progressed between Clark and Hunter. After the pain of his divorce and never having been attracted to another man, Hunter is actually pretty open to the attraction he feels towards Clark. Clark has been crushing on Hunter for ages but never thought anything like this would happen, fake or otherwise. He also can't help himself becoming attached to both Hunter and Toby. The heat that develops between the two men simmers for a couple of dates and when Hunter opens himself up to what's developing, they go all in and it makes for a very hot read. That's perfectly balanced by Clark's sweet and caring nature. He puts his all into his work, giving his best to his students, and loving on his Gran. There's also a wonderful community of people in Granville. Admittedly, very gossipy and slightly interfering but most of them mean well, especially their family and friends. Fans of DJ Jamison's Games We Play will recognise a lot of familiar faces and know Clark from there.
A highly recommended MM romance that brings two men together who are so clearly meant to be together. We are left with quite a nice tease as to who's book is coming next!
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
