I'm not the biggest fan of the single issue stories that get collected randomly. This one has about 7 issues that are similar, but have no real connection to each other. In saying that, there are still some very good stories in this one like Orpheus and Emperor Norton "The Emperor of the United States".

Some of my favorite Sandman stories so far are found in this volume. I also like the parts of the Sandman cycle that have a continuous story, but it's just great that there are these varied volumes in between and you don't really notice a difference in quality. Fables and Reflections is further proof that the medium doesn't matter for the depth of content and variance in expression. Recommendation for everyone. No matter what else you read, no matter what else you watch.

A great way to insert the lord of dreams into fables and folklore throughout the ages. Ramadan and the Hunt were my favourites

It seems at long last even this has lost the way it ignited joy and wistfulness in me. Thanks depression, for finally even taking this magic away.

Other than one story here relates directly to the Endless, this trade is made up self-contained stories that feature Dream as only one part. Because of that, I have trouble staying engaged with the book.

I don’t remember this many self-contained stories from the last time I read through the series, but that may just be because I was rushing through them to get back to the ones about Dream and the Endless.
