There's nothing really memorable about this book, and I think it had a lot of promise and just missed a lot of opportunities to be better. I got really bored in the middle and just started thinking about what I was going to read next.

First of all, as a Kraken fan, I was stoked to read this one! And I related a lot to Alex’s character. And I really felt for Gabe, who deserved to have far more confidence because he was so great. The story was fun, romantic, and steamy. Another great addition to this series. I hope the authors never stop writing.

Cute, but nothing groundbreaking. Just kind of mid-tier of the Sadenverse books I’ve read so far. This book felt mostly like a sponsored ad of all the other couples, because they took up almost as much space in the story as Aleks and Gabe.

I did kind of like the really slow entry into the relationship, with Aleks having come from a long-term relationship and never being with anyone else, and never with a guy at all. I enjoyed the awkwardness and novelty of it, and how Gabe was so patient with him. And then kind of how Gabe was worried once he and Aleks had tried everything sexually that their arrangement would be over. I also liked the lack of a third act breakup.

What I didn’t like was Aleks going on that fake date right after he and Gabe became official, even though he knew Gabe wasn’t happy about it. Totally gave me the ick with his character, but he kinda made up for it when he came to the conclusion that he loved Gabe because he would sacrifice things for him that he never would have with his ex-wife. And the “I love you” declaration was adorable. Spice was eh, just alright. The dirty talk was good though.

All the Puckboy audiobooks are on a waitlist at my library so looks like I’m jumping back to the Fake Boyfriend series for a bit. Maddox and Damon, here I come.

had one super fun scene with the kiss cam but this really felt like an advertisement for the other books in the series

Love, love, love

Oh my god!! This book was amazing and I couldn’t put it down, it was that good. To be honest, I wish I could go back and read it for the first time again. This book seemed to have it all and was written so well. I enjoyed the banter between Aleks and Gabe, I enjoyed the banter between Oskar and Aleks, and I definitely enjoyed the caveman Aleks who threatened Madden to not touch his boyfriend in front of the entire stadium. I re-read that part so many times.

I love Aleks and Gabe, and I absolutely love a "oops caught feelings" moment. The patience Gabe offers Aleks as he explores his sexuality is really sweet, and their chemistry is just delicious. I also think the meet-cute being the drunk Queer Collective setting something on fire and ending up with hot firemen responding to the call is one of my favorites of the series.

It did throw me a bit that they swapped Aleks from being bi (as he repeatedly states he is in Shameless) to pan without really addressing the shift at all (it's not an issue if he just decides/discovers that pan fits him better as a label cuz labels are fluid, but it was odd they didn't even address the shift).
