What a messy and tumultuous relationship!

I didn’t expect that I would love this book so much, but it truly was so good. First of all, the prose was beautiful. I never expect these kinds of books to be very well written, but Sylvia Day knows how to write.

Gideon and Eva were both a mess but I was obsessed with them.

Their relationship felt rushed in the beginning, which was a bit jarring. Gideon is described as an emotionally unavailable man who sleeps with a string of women with no commitments. He went from being like “I need to fuck you” (literally 2 seconds after meeting Eva) to “I need to be in a relationship with you” the next day lolol. Part of me wishes that their was a more natural progression in the beginning of the relationship, but the other part of me that HATES slow burns appreciates that they just got straight to the point.

This book is about two people who have experienced trauma and struggle with vulnerability, but are willing to fight for each other no matter what. They are eager to work on themselves individually and as a couple. The passion between Gideon and Eva was flooding off the pages of this book. They had my head spinning with chaos, but I truly cared about them.

One book isn’t enough to resolve all of the issues and chaos, so I immediately started reading the second book which was also soooo good

The good parts and the bad parts of this book are about equal. The story line is a little bogus, with the characters ridiculously young for their jobs and incomes. The sex scenes are good, if you don't roll your eyes or giggle at the weird choice (he uses the c word entirely too much, she had descriptions of his genitals that make me laugh out loud). Kinda cheesy with a mystery and psychology that would've been good if I hadn't previously read 50 Shades... And gotten the exact same story.

Love it! I can't put this book down. Really interesting. If you like Fifty shades[b:Fifty Shades of Grey|10818853|Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)|E.L. James|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1385207843l/10818853._SX50_.jpg|15732562], this book has a more business-like setting, and since both characters come from a wealthy family, it's more realistic. Both have similar social status. Overall it's a great book.

Really addictive series. If you loved 50 shades of grey, you'll love the Crossfire novels to!

I first read this book years ago around when it first came out in 2012. But I thought I’d read it again as I knew it was a series and there is nothing I love more than a good series of books.

In this book we meet Gideon Cross a wealthy CEO with a complicated past and Eva Tramell who also has a complicated past. This story does follow a similar popular book by the name of “Fifty shades of grey”. But I do feel that it has unique qualities for it to stand on its own. The story is set in New York City. Eva has moved to New York and has just started as a personal assistant for an advertising company. She wants to get a feel of the building she will be working in, so she decided to go there before she starts. As she is in the lobby of the building she gets knocked over and as she looks up, who is there? Gideon Cross of course.

Eva is instantly attracted to Gideon and who wouldn’t be with a description like this

“Inky black hair framed a breathtaking face. His bone structure would make a sculptor weep with joy.”
Eva then reports home and tells her roommate, Cary (who is also attractive, I wish I lived near them with all these attractive people) all about her encounter with Gideon Cross.

Gideon Cross is an arrogant, controlling, possessive man with his own issues which he does not want to deal with. He isn’t used to not getting his own way, is Eva going to teach him what it’s like to not get his own way all the time? Gideon has a string of ex’s who seem to think that they know him better than anyone else, they aren’t afraid to keep popping up in his life to remind anyone new that they aren’t going anywhere

Eva Tramell has a dark past and a controlling mother who decides to track her phone and have her under the watch of her husband’s driver/bodyguard. Eva comes from money thanks to her mother’s many marriages to rich men, therefore Eva does not need Gideon’s money, she isn’t like most girls he meets.

I don’t want to give away any spoilers. So I won’t mention much more of what happens. But I enjoyed learning more about Eva, Gideon and Cary. This story is the beginning of a 5 book series, it is setting the stage for the rest of books.
