This book echoes good health advice presented in other sources: Don't eat junk, get exercise, sleep enough, keep challenging your mind, be connected socially, etc. The appendix lists natural supplements, some of which Dr. Amen sells himself. I was troubled by the lack of references and citations in the back of the book, but he states that these references are available on his website. The SPECT brain scans are not accessible by most people and are controversial regarding their usefulness and accuracy. That being said, Dr. Amen's statement that you can't diagnose what you can't see does makes sense. That being said, after reading this book I am more motivated to take care of my brain and myself through nutrition, exercise, connection, new challenges and sleep.

Eye opening and life altering. The before and after brain spects were amazing and scary. If this book does not stop my diet coke and sugar habit I don't know what will!!!
