Great narration for the audio. A very well done novel with excellent pacing, interesting character development, unpredictable twists, and a satisfying conclusion. At times, it felt as though I was listening to someone’s diary, it felt so authentic and emotive. In reading her author bio, I suspect many scenarios in this book were indeed autobiographical. I hope to read more of her work in the future.

WOW! I am obsessed with this book. We've all read countless books where the killer is unsympathetic. Even if they have like-able qualities, you still know they are a sociopath.

It's very hard to hate Ruby. It's very hard not to root for Ruby. Especially when she is wrongfully accused of killing someone she really cares about. I love the format in which the story was told. Even though this book is "slower" than your average thriller, I never found myself bored. Every chapter meant something and was crucial to getting to know and love Ruby.

This author has a new fan and it's me!

This was a quick, entertaining, morally questionable ride right to the end!

I went into Blood Sugar almost completely blind which likely added to my overall enjoyment of the book. The first chapter was shocking and slightly triggering and only makes sense later when you have the proper context.

The gist of the story is that Ruby has killed several people (not a spoiler) but after her husband passes away she ends up as the main suspect. The way it unfolds is clever, fast paced and not dependent on cliff hangers, which adds to its credibility.

In general I enjoy books that cover a vast period of time in a persons life and the strength of this one is in its chapter layout. It bounces around (not too quickly) between the past and present with each chapter giving you enough to propel the narrative forward.

I was torn throughout with whether or not I believed Ruby - if she was a reliable narrator and if I wanted her to get away with everything. Yes, she exudes major Dexter vibes but that doesn't mean she should be celebrated. These were just fun things to muse while reading and didn't take away from my enjoyment at all.

When psychiatrist Ruby is accused of murdering her husband, she is forced to re-examine her life thus-far. And her life thus-far had included murdering three other people completely undetected. But Ruby is not a sociopath; the people she killed were only horrible human beings themselves. What an interesting twist for a thriller! Ruby gave me a bit of Dexter vibes (one of my favorite shows), and despite being a cold-blooded killer, she was quite likable as a character. I felt sad for her when her husband died, and as her story unfolded I found myself even cheering her on at some points. This was a quick read and kept me on the edge of my seat from the first few pages. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future. Thank you to Netgalley, GP Putnam’s Sons and Sascha Rothschild for the ARC. Blood z Sugar releases April 12th!

Listened as an audiobook. I would give this 3.5 stars. I read other reviews and was curious how you could find yourself rooting for a murder but you definitely root for this main character.

Brilliant, but:
  1.  some things were just wayy too drawn out and at the end, we need that  For eg. The whole ameena story
  2. I felt that the ending could've a bit better. Though she ies up things nicely but i felt the need for more
