I was expecting a good book when I picked this up and a good book is exactly what I got.

honestly, I wish we got more than this? one of my only criticisms would be the pacing, since the first 100 pages start off really strong, action-packed and gripping. the same can be said for the final 100 pages, too. the middle, though? while I understand it’s purpose and that it was needed, the part about lessons with maur dragged for me a bit.

sorry, lost myself a bit there, but what I meant to say is that I could see this as a trilogy very easily. the grand intro to the world with its problems, the learning curve mid book and the grand finale. would definitely read it, if you ever have plans for more, kaz

This is a magnificent fantasy adventure that's going on my keeper shelf for sure. Ava is a realistic and relateable protagonist who grows over the course of the novel into something I really appreciated. She's not perfect and makes plenty of mistakes, but she learns from them (eventually!). Thorough world-building, a diverse cast, and ace rep for the rest of us make this into a book I devoured in two sittings, even with the stress in my life right now. I would honestly love to see more stories set in this world.

Am I now making a crocheted dragon that looks like Vito? Maybe.... ;)
