This book really was not very good, and feels like an author's debut novel. One of the things I hate the most is leaving a book unfinished but getting through this was torture. The story itself isn't too shabby but it's dragged on well past what it deserves, and the characters aren't particularly interesting.
I also started reading this book before I realized why it's been so popular in the media lately - as the book that 'predicted the novel coronavirus'. That's not the reason I read it, I did so because I've enjoyed other works by this author. Perhaps it's not the best idea to read the super early works of an author you have incredibly high standards for because it feels rather underdeveloped. Personally, I would not recommend.

Dean Koontz did not disappoint! My first Dean Koontz book was Midnight and I absolutely loved it. After a short break from D.K I tried reading The eyes of darkness and honestly it was so good I read it in only 2 sittings. Absolutely fantastic and truly engrossing.

3.5 stars. Definitely an early work. It's got all the makings of something better, but the later Koontz magic just isn't quite there yet.

I don't think it predicted anything but it was a great read! Reminded me of the movie "The forgotten" with Julianne Moore, which is awesome.

Sekian.

Having read 77 Shadow Street and found it pretty creepy, I expected big things from this novel. Unfortunately it didn't quite hit the mark for me.

I found the plot interesting although very reminiscent of something Stephen King would write. I couldnt help seeing similarities between this novel and King's The Insititute, although I'm aware this one was written first.

I also found the hype around this novel supposedly predicting coronavirus massively overhyped and a little ridiculous given the role it played in the novel.

Overall, this gets 3 stars from me.
