Sadly not as entertaining as its predecessors. Horowitz has mostly eliminated the tried and true formula of Hawthorne and Anthony working side by side to investigate a murder in favor of delving into a mystery from Hawthorne's past to provide fodder for Anthony's latest book, which isn't nearly as interesting and provides far less of the two interacting with each other. Perhaps he has become bored of writing this dynamic and wanted to shake things up while still revealing new information about Hawthorne to readers, but as a result the story was a lot less fun to follow and my mind often wandered while I listened. Even though the mystery is decent, much of its urgency is removed when it is something that previously occurred. If the series continues on, I hope the next installment is on par with the others and that this middling outing is merely a blip.

I just love this series. I find it so fun, and funny, and the mysteries are interesting enough.

Didn’t love this one as much as the previous books. There wasn’t enough interaction between Horowitz and Hawthorne. And the timelines got confusing from time to time.
