This was a heart pounding locked room mystery/thriller combo. Ware totally nailed the start-up tech culture (I cringed and nodded my head ruefully). I had my suspicions pretty early on about who the culprit was, but the journey was still great. A few plot holes near the end made this a four star book instead of five, for me.

The plot very reminiscent of Agatha Christie. 8 guests and 2 chalet hosts are snowed in when an avalanche strikes, and with no reception/WiFi, they're totally cut off from the outside world. Then one by one, people start to die.

I enjoyed this, but I didn't love it. I think the plot was pretty decent, and the two main leads were written well enough, but I wish some of the other background characters were better fleshed out, so it felt like stakes were higher when people were bumped off.

My 2nd Ruth Ware, and I felt quite similarly about the last one. I'd certainly read another as they are quick, breezy reads. 3.5 stars rounded down

I think my feelings for this book will be better to explain using a pro/con list:

pros:
- And Then There Were None vibes
- snowy chateau setting was spot on
- dual-pov (one of my fav things)
- very satisfying ending

cons:
- obvious killer :/
- workplace drama could've been juicer
- a bit underwhelming

Ultimately this was a solid mystery/thriller but if you've read a lot of them and are looking for something to truly shock you, i think you can maybe skip (unless it's winter and you want a snowy book for the vibe, then it's perfect lol)

This was a fun read, but was very reminiscent of The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley. Not sure if I would have enjoyed it better if I read this one first, but the story seemed played out to me. Still enjoyed the reading experience though.

I have come to look forward to each of this author's releases and this one was another exceptional read.

Saint Antoine is an exclusive ski resort and a group are gathering for a company retreat. Snoop is the hottest new music app and they are in the middle of a billion dollar buyout. Except not everyone is in favour of it. With the animosity in the group, they all head out to the slopes for a break. However, an avalanche cuts the chalet off from help and one of the group goes missing. From there it is all downhill as the group realise they may well be in danger.

I loved the way the author made you question each character, their motives and relationships to the point where anyone could have been the culprit in this clever and twisted who done it. It kept me guessing as Ware slowly revealed the backstories and secrets and I found myself completely immersed in the story. Brilliant!!

I’d give this one a 3.5 ⭐️ it wasn’t bad, but wasn’t the best thriller I’ve ever read. All of the buildup didn’t really come to fruition, it seemed to wrap up a little too easily and the twist was almost just handed to the reader, not left for us to discover and bring the shock factor. I loved the setting and the business aspect, though. And it was kind of nice to have a thriller with a relatively positive ending with justice served.

I loved the mix of the setting of a ski chalet that is isolated by an avalanche and the characters which were a toxic combination of working class and rich people behaving bratty. The pacing and suspense was excellent. While I find Ruth Ware inconsistent in delivering female characters I enjoy, I really loved One by One.
