To be fair it’s probably more a 3 1/2. The end just dragged a bit because I anticipated it coming to a conclusion sooner. The final chapters felt a bit like an epilogue so the structure wasn’t my favorite but the story itself is quite good.

One by One by Ruth Ware was a decent read, but it didn’t really blow me away like some of her other books have. The isolated chalet setting after an avalanche definitely had a creepy, tense vibe that’s perfect for a thriller, but overall, the story felt a bit predictable to me.

The dual perspectives from Erin and Liz were interesting, but I felt like I could see where things were headed early on, so it didn’t have the twists I was hoping for. It was still well-written and kept my attention, but it’s not one that will stick with me.

For new Ruth Ware readers, this could be a good intro to her style. But if you’re already a fan, I’d just say this one just wasn’t my favorite.

I really enjoyed the book as a whole, but was able to figure out the mystery fairly early on. Good book overall, but not super satisfying ending.

Not especially mysterious (no big surprise whodunnit) but still very fun and suspenseful! Beautiful, evocative setting.

I thought this was a great Hawaii beach read and since I'm bad at whodunnits I never find mystery novels to be predictable

I have read a lot of Ruth Ware, I like the stories and the ending, I think my struggle every time is I don't love any of the characters. Will continue reading her books though.

It felt like it to me forever to read this book!
It was merely okay. I would consider giving Ruth Ware another chance.
It was just to many roles i felt like it was drawn out in many parts and i figured out from the first couple of chapters who the killer was due to how her protagonist was.

really liked this book - my first ruth ware!

she really drew me in to the mystery and the screwed up lives of the characters. she develops each person piece by piece, slowly revealing their motivations and relationships in creative ways that make it all feel like you're watching things unfold, not being told about them.

unfortunately, i figured out whodunnit almost immediately.
