“Most of the time, when you regret something, you haven’t seen what the thing you regret can lead you to, if you let it. Some of the worst things that have happened to me have led to some of the best.”

“I think life is about learning to dance even when you’re sitting still.”

Oh, Emily Henry. I think you’ve ruined me for other authors. And your fictional love interests have ruined me for other fictional love interests. There’s just something about running into your generationally cursed nemesis in a maze of mirrors, biting his collarbone accidentally, and looking at him like, “Yeah. This is going to be a problem. You’re going to ruin me.” And you know what? I totally get it—I love you, Saul Angert 🫶🏻 but most of all, I love you, June O’Donnell. For breaking a generational curse with your star-crossed lover and choosing the light instead of the darkness.

Romeo & Juliet meets Ghost Whisperer.

This was an amazing story filled with lessons in overcoming grief, generational trauma as well as discovering your first love.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book. I’m reading all of EmHen’s backlog (YA) novels, and I have to say, I was really impressed by this one, not that it’s a huge surprise.

Magical realism isn’t my typical read nowadays, but this had me hooked from the start. One thing that Emily excels at is painting a picture. Her descriptions make you feel as though you are experiencing it right along with the characters. And we all know that she knows how to write a good book boyfriend. 😊🫠

There is an exploration of family legacy, love, loss, and grief in this book making it much heavier than I originally expected, but I think that’s what makes this so book so beautiful. Don’t read this if you aren’t ready to sit in your feelings. 🥹🥺

4.5 stars rounded up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This is my fourth Emily Henry book and it definitely took me on a journey. I enjoy magical realism. Seeing memories from the past and how it's affecting the present was pretty cool.
This story is definitely filled with a lot of grief and loss. Please check trigger warnings if you plan to read this one. It was magical but at the same time dark.
